a Haiku

vapid wishes drift
hollow as sun bleached jaw bones;
yammering prayers
Writer’s Note: In times of great challenge and suffering many of us struggle through a pat rubric of responses in need of ‘something more’. Often, stock replies do not express our sincere desire to remain present, authentic and empathetic to each other’s story of loss. Not unlike clouds devoid of rain, expressions empty and rote, will not salve our broken hearts. Let us find a way to be present and express our genuine feelings, even at a distance, this will go a long way toward reminding us all we are never alone.
